CHÂTEAU
HAUT BONNEAU
APPELLATION MONTAGNE SAINT EMILION CONTRÔLEE Vin du Vieux Continent
Mars 2008
Septembre 2007
Here we are in the month of September which starts off with sun-filled yet cooler days! The vines are fine bearing in mind all the trials they have endured. Leaf and grape diseases and then the rain have led us to a constant vigilance to ensure the success of this winemaking campaign which is to be completed over the next few days with the grape harvests.
It will have been necessary to sacrifice over 40 % of the Merlot grapes and up to 70 % of the Cabernets Franc to ensure the first-class quality of the harvest which we are going to put in the vats. These grapes shall be vinified with the greatest attention so as to provide a wine worthy of laying claim to L’AOC Montagne St Emilion and particularly the steadiness of Château Haut Bonneau. This incipient phase will end in 2 years when the wine is bottled.
We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the releases in the 2008 edition guides:
- Le Petit Futé : « 1001 meilleurs vins à moins de 8 euros» with Château Haut Bonneau 2005
- « Hachette » with L’Eloina David 2004
- « Dussert Gerber » with Château HAUT BONNEAU 2004 et 2005 and L’ELOÏNA DAVID 2004
- « Guide Hubert de la Gastronomie » with Château HAUT BONNEAU 2004 and L’ELOÏNA DAVID 2004
These recognised guides have bestowed very positive tasting comments, thereby endorsing our consistency at conceiving and making great wine.

October 2005 - Something great !
The grapes have all come to ripeness in a very homogeneous way without showing the slightest deterioration or damage. The vine, having little or not grown since the last trimming, showed itself in its best light, in line, staight and proud.
Proud, it can be so, because it produced red grapes with a great concentration, both on analytical and quantitative levels, but also on the organoleptic level. Never did we take such a pleasure in tasting the grapes, so tasty they are.
The grapes fully benefited from the excellent climatic conditions during the summer. June, July and August were of course specially dry, but also exceptionally hot and sunny.
We finished harvesting the merlot grapes on 28 September under very beautiful climatic conditions and picked up our cabernet franc and sauvignon grapes 12 days later.
The first impressions, during and after the fermentations, confirm us in our feeling in the vineyard. The merlots, which have finished their fermentations, are very rich, with an intensity and complexity we never knew before at a similar period.
The wine growers are traditionally reserved and careful people, but it is difficult for us this year to hide our smiles. Our faces light up when tasting the various types of vines. We do not dare to say it, but we think it: something great is being born right before our eyes and our taste buds.
